officeproductsnorthwest is committed to helping our environment. We offer a full line of recycled and recyclable products for customers who, like us, believe that they can make a positive impact on our planet without compromising their bottom line.

Environmentally Preferable Product Offerings

All products in our main catalog that are made from recycled materials are clearly marked with the green arrows symbol to make it easy to choose the most environmentally responsible products.

Most major office supply manufacturers have embraced the idea of creating more supply options for the consumer that are made at least partially from post- consumer content. There are recycled products available in every category. This includes paper products, janitorial supplies, writing instruments, binders, calendars, envelopes, filing supplies and many others.

Other non-recycled products can have a reduced environmental impact; such as non-toxic cleaning products, rechargeable batteries and a full line of remanu- factured ink and toner cartridges.

Specialty papers made from post-consumer content are also available for custom printing. Items such as letterhead, envelopes and business cards can now be created on papers with 30% or more recycled content with excellent results. The recycled papers have the same look and feel as non-recycled papers while reducing the environmental impact.

Customer Education and Awareness

Using products containing even a small amount of recycled content is environmentally preferable because it helps to reduce waste, decrease pressure on resources and cut down on water and air emissions. We want our customers to have the option to buy more environmentally responsible products.

Customers are encouraged to purchase recycled ink and toners. We provide pre-paid boxes and labels to make returning used cartridges as easy as possible. Contact us if you have toners to recycle.

Internal Sustainable Efforts

officeproductsnorthwest has instituted several eco-friendly programs designed to reduce our impact on the environment.

We are a sustaining member of the Oregon Natural Step Network.

We offer an employee rebate program to aid in the purchase of any hybrid vehicle. This benefit will not only help employees own a more energy efficient vehicle, but will allow them to make a positive environmental difference in our community.

All paper used internally contains at least 30% post-consumer content. Letterhead, envelopes and business cards are being converted to print on 100% post- consumer content paper stocks.

We have recently upgraded our order systems to offer the option of invoicing via email, cutting down on waste paper generated by faxing or mailing invoices.

We have made the choice to replace incandescent bulbs with energy efficient fluorescent and compact fluorescent lighting wherever possible.

Internal Recycling Efforts

• Each employee has a recycling bin at their desk. Bins are also in common areas for recycling mixed paper products. We collect and recycle soda cans, plastic containers and glass bottles.
• Used ink and toner cartridges are sent away to be reused or recycled, saving them from waste dumps.
• All employees have reusable water bottles and coffee mugs instead of disposable cups.

Whenever possible we utilize local suppliers for our furniture and office products in order to reduce transportation emissions.
